Bespoke (individually designed) systems

Tell us what you need and we will build the system around your  lifestyle and needs whether that's creating a relaxing area for alfresco eating and drinking or something for the family.

Built from pressure teated timber and using quality materials,  The decking system will last many many years.

Below are examples/photo's of decking systems that we have built:

Lamarr and Demi of Oakwood asked us to build them a deck with rope and brass fittings.

Before/after:

Mr West of Allestree asked us to erect a gazebo, integrating the posts into the structure of the deck to reduce the overall weight on the deck and give it more stability.

Mr & Mrs Stone of Oakwood asked us to install a new deck at the bottom of their garden.

The bespoke deign consisted of a two-level deck with a pergola built into the structure, finished off with rope as an additional feature.

The area had to cleared and dug out filling a 10-ton skip.

Before:

After:

Derek of Worksworth asked us to replace an old rotten deck outside his summer house.  Although the deck was not large there was considerable work due to the many angles.

Before/after:

Tanya of Mackworth asked us to install a 5.1 x 3.2 metre deck in her garden.  She also had a large raised bed made out of new railway sleepers.

Mr Needham of Little Eaton asked us to build a safe platform/walk way for his elderly mother.  Anti-slip tape was used in the areas where there was a slight slope as well as the addition of balustrade all around the area.  The area itself was not large but there was a great deal of work involved to design and construct the bespoke project.  Gates were also constructed on site.

Before/in progress:

After:

Mr Needham gave the following feedback on the Derbyshire County Councils Trusted Trader website  - " My mother is quite frail and has had numerous falls. We were keen to ensure she could enjoy sitting in the summer house and access safely via a raised decking walkway with hand rails. Abbey Decking systems did a great job building a high quality walkway to their own design with hand rails and non - slip decking. The quality of the work is a very high standard all carried out with the minimum of disruption. This scheme has given us peace of mind that my mother is as safe as possible walking between the house and the summer house, a great job! Would highly recommend this company for quality of workmanship and production of a bespoke design and build."

Mr Bridges of Belper asked us to build him an angled deck.

Before:

After:

Dan of Hilton asked us to build him a small decked area.

Before/after:

Mr Moseley of Chellaston had a poorly constructed addition to his main deck.  It had been built so that the deck had no air circulation underneath so it had gone rotten.

It took some time to find the exact match,  so the decking boards were the same as the main deck.

Before:

After:

Siobhan of Derby asked us to build a small deck within the landscaping project at her new house.

We also enlarged the patio and installed sleepers to hold back the soil (which were lined with waterproof membrane to prevent the sleepers from rotting).  Although the project was not massive the work involved was quite extensive.

The project also created a more level garden.

Before:

After:

Mr & Mrs Bennett of Allestree had a very poorly constructed deck which was unsafe.  The deck had been basically laid onto the soil below and built with a very weak balustrade which had broken..

We were asked to remove the old deck and replace it with a slightly more raised deck that was level and more practical to use.

Before:

After:

Matt of Mickleover had previously had fencing installed by us, He asked us to build him a raised deck as well as creating a wooden boarder around his garden.

Before:

After:

Mr Robson of Allestree asked us to build him a bespoke deck which mirrored  the curves of his garden.  He wanted contrasting black metal bars with a chunky continuous hand-rail around the top.  An invisible door was built into the side to give access for any maintenance in the future.

Before/in progress:

After:

Mr Fancis of Duffield asked us to build him a bespoke deck in the corner of the garden, build him a pergola using 6 x 6 posts and repair fencing.

Before/after:

Mr & Mrs Elliott of Belper had a very steep garden with a large wasted area at the rear.  After looking at the options of either tiered gravelling or decking they chose decking.  The steps were integrated into the 4.2 x 4.8 metre (20 square metre) deck to save space in the garden.

Before/after:

This installation we installed  in  was set on several levels:

Before, in progress and after completion:

Mr and Mrs Connor  wanted to create an extremely large decked area at the rear of their property.

Before, in progress and after completion:

Mr and Mrs  Brown of Oakwood asked us to install a split level deck:

Before, in progress and after completion:

Mr Cope  asked us to build him a deck off the first floor of his house so that he could have direct access to the garden from his main living area.  Huge 4 metre 6 x 6 posts were specially ordered and used as well as a bespoke gate.

Before/in progress:

After:

Below - Mr Foster of Alvaston wanted a raised, flat decked area in his back garden.  We produced an initial  scale plan which was reviewed and amended before the project began. He had a 15.9 metre deck constructed.

Before, in progress and after completion:

Mr Chiu of Selston wanted a decked area which would allow the multiple doors within his property to open up onto a singular decked area.  The deck was positioned just below the sills of the doors so that you would b able to step straight out onto the decked area.

Before/in progress:

After:

Below - Mr & Mrs Fletcher of Aston-on-Trent asked us to replace an old deck with a new one incorporating fixed brass fittings, feature posts and rope.

Before,in progress and after completion:

Below - Mr Nix of Allestree wanted an entertainment area.

Before, in progress and after with the addition of a BBQ shelter and gate added:

Mr & Mrs Warren of Allestree asked us to build them a raised deck at the top of their garden.

The area used was a multitude of angles.

Mr Dobbs of Allestree asked us to build a raised deck in his garden with angled steps to give the deck more contrasting detail. Brass fittings were used with heavy rope to give an open feel but with barriers.  The installation took 5 days.

Before/in progress and after:

Mr Swales of Heatherton Village Littleover asked us to build him a raised deck at the top of his garden:

Mr Foster of Alvaston had previously had a deck built by us.  He wanted a second smaller deck installed so that the raised rear gravelled garden could be integrated more into the garden and also provide an area that caught the sunshine later in the day:

There was as much work involved in the structure of the 3 metre by 3 metre deck compared to a larger one as the same amount of posts were used as would have been used on a 4 x 4 metre deck.

Mr Robert of Derby had an area of his garden, that was wasted, as there was only a narrow path down the side of the house and a deep ditch to one side.

After careful planning and discussion, a decking design was produced and agreed using massive 3.8 metre pressure treated 6 x 6 posts to support the rear of the deck (as it could not be connected to the neighbours wall) with bespoke, chunky  post caps made especially for the project.

Additional fencing sections and a gate were incorporated  to give additional privacy.   Mr Roberts own planting (bamboo) and background (willow panels) ideas, complimented the overall design.

A section of the deck which went over the ditch was reinforced by building a concrete frame and filling it with 3 tonnes of crushed lime stone, with a concrete slab laid on top. This was to take the weight of a hot tub.

After:

Mr & Mrs Blann of Chaddesden had a lean-to and deck built down the side of their property:

Before:                                                                                                      After:

Mr & Mrs Hemmingham of Allestree had a substantial drop in height from their new conservatory to the ground level.

They asked us to build them a raised decked  deck area to provide a formal seating and entertainment area for the family.

In progress and on completion:

Mr & Mrs Heaps of Littleover had an area of the garden that they wanted to use more effectively.

They already had a raised patio area so wanted a contrasting feature/area within the garden.

Before, in progress and after:

Nicola Finnis of Boroughwash wanted a split level deck integrated into her existing steps.

Before, in progress and after:

Mr and Mrs Wheat of Aston on Trent asked us to build them a deck with feature posts and rope/chrome fittings.

Before, in progress and after completion:

Mr Knight of Shardlow had an existing deck that he wanted to have extended.   He also wanted a higher fence installed for privacy as the increased decked area would be right next to a neighbour who's property was at a lower level..  To save him money we re-used some of is boards before continuing the decking on with new boards.  The area was nearly trippled.

Before, in progress and after completion:

Mr and Mrs Wall of Matlock asked us to build them a large raised deck with storage beneath.

Before:

Margaret of Chaddesden has a raised deck built with the steps integrated into actual structure:

Before/in progress and after:

Mr Devey of Allestree asked us to install new balustrade on an existing deck as the old one had been poorly installed and was dangerous:
